About Nicola Jane Hall

As a multidisciplinary artist working across textile, painting, and performance, I create works that explore deep emotional territories through multiple layers and dimensions. My practice centers on forging higher connections to the self, drawing from the abundance of materials that surround me daily. Through hand-sewn textile pieces using mirrors, rugs, and expansive wall hangings, I utilise traditional techniques of beadwork, crafting, collage, and appliqué. These works evolve through slow making and durational processes spanning years, where I continually add, repair, and adapt. This self taught approach, brings forth the historic approach to mending, making and fashion. It creates pieces charged with energy and movement, transforming raw elements into otherworldly forms. My work seeks to unite various aspects of myself while exploring the threads of connection that bind us. The interplay between relaxation and tension within materials creates visceral responses, inviting viewers into an emotional journey. Rather than static objects, these pieces pulse with life, fostering movement and connection that transcends the physical realm. Art is the soul and the heart and should be nurtured, encouraged, supported, validated and as much as possible fun or atleast cathartic :) Available for commissions, collaborations, workshops and creative mentorship support.
