About Melissa Quinn

Hello! I'm Mel an artist who dabbles in a bit of everything really 😂 I love working from pre-loved/thrifted materials and giving them a new life! (The weirder the better) sustainability is big for me. I'm originally from Doncaster & have moved up to Sunderland with my partner Louise & our familiars Finn & Merlin. I'm in the process of opening Scenic Roots Studio - I wanted to create a space that I felt I wanted/needed growing up as a young creative - a safe space for more alternative artists to use as a working space, host workshops, create exhibitions, sell their work and enjoy some decent coffee at the same time! (Pumpkin Spice all year round? Of course. Don't be silly.) I felt like 'traditional' galleries and shops didn't really fit my aesthetic and I generally didn't feel very comfortable in them. I have a degree In Theatre, Performance & Event Design and I'm wanting to really utilise my skills within this space. I want the studio to feel immersive & cosy - leaning towards a more witchy/gothic vibe. - Imagine rustic fantasy inn, enchanted grove, sculpted trees... We're always on the lookout for new creatives to join Scenic - so if you think this is your vibe send us a message, we'd love to hear from you! At the moment we're aiming to open in Sunderland around Spring 27' (But may be doing events under Scenic's name beforehand)
