MarkMaker is a designer who creates bold, colourful artworks combining graphic forms, typography, and mixed-media elements, often incorporating wood and other materials, to produce visually striking pieces that invite contemplation and exploration of the ideas behind them.
About
My work sits somewhere between graphic design, typography and contemporary mixed-media art. I create bold, colourful, layered artworks using materials such as wood and other cut and painted elements, combining strong graphic forms with playful compositions and tactile, physical construction. I’m interested in the relationship between visual impact and the ideas behind a piece. Whether it’s typography, everyday habits, personal memories or references to the places and experiences that shape us, I like making work that catches the eye first and gives people something more to think about.
A look at the work

Inspired by the quote, “Easy things, hard life. Hard things, easy life,” this piece explores the value of perseverance.

Bold intersecting typography encouraging the viewer to slow down and discover words and meaning through layers of colour and shape - stay curious.

Rooted in local dialect, “Hard Graft” celebrates resilience, pride and the quiet dignity found in honest work.
