About Lucy Minta Reeves

I am a costume, prop and set designer, maker and supervisor based in Newcastle upon Tyne, with 18 years of experience. I specialise in costume and prop construction, from garment making, pattern cutting, sewing and textile manipulation to creating practical, characterful props and set pieces. I combine strong technical skills with creative problem-solving to turn ideas and designs into well-crafted, functional outcomes. I am known for being organised, reliable and collaborative, with experience supervising teams, managing workloads and delivering high-quality work within time and budget. Sustainability and resourcefulness are central to my practice, particularly through the use of reclaimed and upcycled materials. I also have extensive experience facilitating creative workshops with a wide range of participants. Alongside my freelance design and making work, I am also the first Artist in Residence in one of the Grade II* listed Byker Estate’s newly refurbished Hobby Rooms, for which I am developing a programme of creative projects with the local community focussing on sustainability, slow making and craft-based skills.
